Therapeutic Services & Rehabilitation Treatments

Our ambulatory practice is conveniently based in East Seattle within easy driving distance to many locations throughout the region for examination and treatment at your facility. For clients who are outside of our routine service area, we offer appointments at one of our existing client facilities that generously allow haul-in appointments. We also routinely visit the Olympia area.

Shockwave Therapy

Dr. Gottlieb performing Shockwave therapy

Shockwave is an acoustic wave which carries high energy to areas of injury and pain, promoting regeneration and repair processes of the bones, tendons and other soft tissues. Shockwave accelerates tissue repair and cell growth, and provides analgesia and mobility restoration for conditions such as back and neck pain.

Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a treatment that alleviates pain by re-setting the sensory nerve fibers associated with the mesoderm (middle skin layer). Dr. Revenaugh first gained exposure to mesotherapy while working at a veterinary clinic in Germany in 1992. The technique originated in France in 1952 and is practiced worldwide in human medicine.

Polyacrylamide Hydrogel

Arthramid Vet is a polyacrylamide hydrogel that is used for intra-articular injection for joint related lameness. The hydrogel is integrated into the joint lining and improves the elasticity of the joint capsule, ultimately enhancing the quality of synovial fluid within the joint and reducing inflammation.

Functional Electric Stimulation (FES)

FES treatment equipment uses electrical impulses.

FES is a physiotherapy treatment that helps improve and restore normal muscle function and provide pain relief by reducing inflammation, maintaining muscle mass, reducing scar tissue, and improving range of motion. The computer-regulated electrical impulses can be applied to the neck, back, and pelvis, especially while a horse is resting and rehabilitating from an injury, and as a maintenance treatment to promote optimum performance.

Orthobiologic Therapies

The field of regenerative medicine is constantly evolving, with new products coming to market on an almost continuous basis. We update our own regenerative medicine offerings based on the latest information regarding the safety and efficacy of the products available. We are committed to providing the most potentially beneficial options currently on the market, while ensuring the safety and health of your horse.

Provet APC (Portable PRP System)

Provet APC PRP is prepared at the point-of-care in minutes. From a simple blood draw, the product is processed and returns to the site of injury a high concentration of platelets, which contain growth factors and anti-inflammatory cytokines. PRP has been shown to be beneficial in horses with arthritic conditions and in treating soft tissue injuries to promote a robust healing response.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (In House PRP System)

PRP therapy is an injection of a high concentration of platelets in the form of blood plasma into or around a lesion. The platelets are rich in growth factors and anti-inflammatory proteins which aid in the healing process. PRP is most commonly used as a treatment for tendon and ligament injuries. It is also effective as an intra-articular therapy for reducing inflammation within the joint.

Alpha2EQ (alpha-2-macroglobulin)

A2M is a large protein found in the blood that is isolated and injected into joints to reduce inflammation and inhibit cartilage breakdown. This system is also used to treat inflammatory airway conditions via nebulization. It can be used at time of processing or frozen for future use up to 12 months.

Regenaflex RT & Strydaflex (Amnion based therapy)

Regenaflex and Strydaflex contain cytokines, growth factors and exosomes— factors demonstrated to stimulate healing by delivering a cell-signaling cascade to reduce inflammation, promote healing, and decrease scarring. Each vial provides a consistent product which is ready to use in under a minute, with no processing, no thawing, and no equipment, making it effective and convenient for use at time of examination. Regenaflex includes a bioscaffold and is designed to treat soft tissue injuries, and Strydaflex is specifically aimed for use in joints, tendon sheaths and other synovial structures.

Regenerative (High Power) Laser Therapy

Available at our Oregon location, the FP4 system is a high-power therapeutic laser, distinctive from conventional cold laser therapy. Protocols are designed for each patient and each unique injury. The simultaneous use of the four patented laser wavelengths allow for depth of penetration without thermal damage to the skin. Proven effects of FP4 laser therapy include reduced pain and inflammation, improved circulation, reduction of scar tissue and biostimulation, the regeneration of healthy tissue at a cellular level.
